Ron Nelson Files for Re-Election

May 15, 2025
Ron Nelson, Prairie Village City Councilmember for Ward 2, today filed for re-election to Council. In filing for re-election, Nelson commented that he first ran for Prairie Village City Council when his friend, Steve Noll, a long-time supporter of rational policy and forward thinking, decided not to run for re-election after serving the City for 23 years from 1991-2006, and again from 2010-2018. In filing, Nelson said that the same things driving him to first file for Council again drive him: "I have been committed to the betterment of Prairie Village for the entire 40+ years I've been a resident. I first moved to Prairie Village because of its walkable neighborhoods, its friendly people, and its sense of community. I first ran for City Council because I saw the need for continued forward thinking and rational policy making. Now, more than ever, Prairie Village needs to look forward rather than backwards. As one author said, 'Nothing holds you back more than the fear of moving forward.'"
